Unitel Caritas Malta Donations Campaign

Caritas Malta operates various projects, programmes and services that are the lifeline for people who are in need. Caritas Malta receives government funding to partly sustain only one of its projects (New Hope); otherwise, the organisation relies heavily on sponsorships and donations from individuals and groups. In recent years Caritas Malta has developed most of its services and started new projects and programmes.

UniTel and Caritas Malta have joined forces to invite the general public to sustain the Caritas Malta projects and services through financial donations.

The means used for this campaign, (which will be on an ongoing basis) are as follows:

• SMS: 50618022 (LM 2)
• Telephone (Maltacom): 50049715  (Lm 5.00)
• UniTel 2272 2272 (Lm1.00)
• On line donations

Appeals through TV adverts and other media

Caritas Malta together with MPS Picture Box Director Mr. Vince Briffa have produced a series of four messages related to the Caritas Malta work with children and young people. These will be aired on all TV stations and a still version of these messages will be placed in buses and newspapers. Other means are radio adverts, SMS alerts, email shots, mail shots, press coverage, slots on TV programmes. UniTel has provided an internet banner on maltamedia.com and adverts on UniTel cards.

The adverts carry pictures of children (ages 10 -12 years old) together with a message.
The four different messages are as follows:

a) Mark may have a drug problem in six years time. Help us prevent it;
b) Maria may become infected with HIV in eight years time. Help us prevent it;
c) David may be a volunteer in four years time. Help us achieve it.
d) Rachel has epilepsy. Her friends do not always understand her condition. Help us to   alter this.

The adverts also include the information on how to give a donation via SMS, Telephone, UniTel and online.
